This was my 2nd time diving here. The vis wasn't quite as good and the fish weren't quite as good as last time either. It was still pretty good. Very little parking on the narrow road to the beach. To prevent a guaranteed parking ticket, park 200 yards down the road at the state beach with the camp ground. I saw several scuba divers coming and going. They seemed to be having a good time. Entry was fairly easy between the submerged rocks. I saw lots of fish, a couple of eels and a lobster. Some people were spear fishing out a ways and seemed to be doing pretty well. A beautiful setting for diving if you don't mind the 200 yard hike to the bathroom and shower.

A very nice, relaxing beech with plenty of parking, bathroom facilities and fresh water shower. Water entry was extremely easy with a nice, soft sandy bottom. You had to swim out quite a ways to get to anything that looked like a reef. There were some fish and eels out there. Didn't see any scuba divers out there. Inside the reef is shallow. It's a long kick to get outside of the reef. Some fishermen boated out, which might be your best way for scuba. I would definitely dive there again, if only for the relaxation.
08/05/2004 2.75 Poipu Beach Park Kauai, Hawaiian Islands
Nice sandy beach with showers parking and shelters. After that it goes downhill. I went on a high tide with no sandbar to the island so that at times waves would push you in 2 directions. The water was shallow with a lot of rocks on the bottom. You really need surf shoes. Saw some fish but not any real schools. The most fun I had was kicking over rocks and watching the fish feed on what was under them. At times I could easily touch them. Saw some small eels. I probably wouldn't snorkel here again
08/02/2004 2.90 Shark's Cove Oahu, Hawaiian Islands
Plenty of rocks to climb over to get into the water. Turtles munch on the algae along the rock ledge at the right of the cove. Water clarity was pretty good. Pretty bare of plant life. What do you expect from the north shore? Tons of rookie scuba divers here. Had a good time. I'd get there early to get a parking spot. A very safe spot to dive when conditions are good. I'd dive there again.
