Went snorkeling in early May 2016- while the reef is mostly dead for the first hundred yards from shore, the main Anini Channel is captivating- clean, deep, and full of turtles. Saw ~10 turtles in 20-30ft of water within 15 minutes of snorkeling. Visibility was limited to 30ft, but the turtles were great, and I would have loved to have scuba gear to explore the depths of the main channel. Don't judge this site until you've swum in the main channel - it's clearly visible on satellite photos, and while there are some other minor channels which provide interesting terrain, they aren't nearly as deep, don't go out to the ocean, and don't have the turtle population! You'll know the main channel when you swim over it; only start diving once you're over 20ft of water.
