05/08/2008 Stephen from MN (Avg: 2.81 Review) - We went on the protected side of the island. Vis was poor due to the February winds, but once we got out some distance it was ok. This is a big island, but it seemed the interest spot was two large boulders about the size of a car that attracted small fish. Bottom content was sand with turtle grass. I liked the experience, but if more than a dozen people it could get crowded. I think the windward side of the island would be much better had we gone there. I still would return, but other Caribbean spots stand out better for just about everything. Some nudist activity made it odd for me to take my kids to the windward side, but that is common throughout the islands.

03/23/2008 KateLab (Avg: 3.36 Review) - A nice reef and island protect this area from current and surf. There is a good variety of fish on the reef, and this is a great snorkel.

03/28/2007 KateLab (Avg: 3.05 Review) - I took a taxi from the ship to French cul de sac where you get on a small boat ($6.00 round trip). It is questionable if there will be a taxi available in the parking lot on your return so you may need to be patient and plan accordingly. Water was calm with good visibility and, from what I hear, is usually calm due to where the reef is located relative to the island. It is a nice snorkel before the large tour groups get there from the cruise ships, but not spectacular. You'd like this place if there are weak swimmers in your group, especially if you can beat the crowds to the island.

03/29/2005 Gary Harmon (Avg: 2.68 Review) - Best place we snorkeled on St Martin. Took a shuttle boat to the Island for $5 round trip and then just walked right in. Some good fish. Love2snorkel
