Overview of Playa Shon Moso

Playa Shon Moso

Home

Playa Shon Moso is just to the South of the previous site, Playa Manzalino. Again, this is a rustic site, where you'll be assured of having your very own diving space!

Directions: Northwest of Willemstad, travel 12.3 km West on Weg Naar Westpunt from the Weg Naar Hato intersection to San Pedro. Turn left to head toward Soto. Travel 5.3 km to reach the intersection shown on Playa Manzalino site. Follow the directions from there.

01/25/2007 John Wood (Avg: 3.00 Review) - Warning! Avoid this beach for your own safety. See report of Armed Robbery at Playa Manzalino

12/20/2005 Captain Bob (Avg: 4.80 Review) - My wife and I rented a car and dove this site during the thanksgiving holiday. We had the site to ourselves and will definitely dive it again.

12/28/2002 Allan Myers (Avg: 4.59 Review) - The drive/road down to Shon Mosa was good for a dirt road. A bit of a steep hill just past the gate where you may have to pay 5 guilder to pass. Saw several parrots flying along the road on each of my visits here. The beach was very secluded and nice place to hang out if you don't mind not having any facilities available. Entry was easy followed by a short kick out to the reef (about 50ft). The current was never very strong, but it did vary in direction on each dive. The reef is awesome in either direction. I found there to be more soft coral and sponges at this site than some of the other around the island. There are some very large coral heads here too. As far as sea life... I saw several green morays (large and small) and a very large sting-ray. I didn't see any large fish, but there were more than plenty of the smaller reef fish around. All in all... a great dive!

07/24/2001 Fiona Rattray (Avg: 4.28 Review) - Wow, loved the drive in, like your own little park, plus you get to see lots of bird life including the local parrot. We did a long surface swim so that we could try and find the giant barrel sponge listed in the guidebook, but we never did find it. However we did see flying guernards on the surface swim, and at depth a ray and a huge lobster.
